We talked with Brad about the dirtbike accident that resulted in his SCI, the amazing work of the search and rescue team and volunteers that were able to find him in the middle of the desert, and having the television show Hearts of Heroes profiling his story. We also discussed the amount of function that has returned so far after his injury, the community rallying around him and his family, and the emotions he felt getting to think the people that were able to rescue him. Episode 180 Danny Keiderling

This week on the Live to Walk Again Podcast we were lucky enough to visit with Danny Keiderling who is a Welder, Entrepreneur, father, and Spinal Cord Injury Survivor. Episode 179 Dr. David W McMillan and Devon Colbert

This week on the Live to Walk Again Podcast we had the pleasure of doing a roundtable discussion with amateur neuroscientist, Spinal Cord Injury Survivor, and retired firefighter Devon Colbert along with Dr. David W McMillan who is a Research Assistant Prof. in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami and the Dir. of Education and Outreach at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. In this episode we briefly discussed Devon's experimentation with psilocybin in hopes of finding a useful treatment to help in restoring function after spinal cord injury, the research studies he's been working on since he was last on the podcast, and some related studies that Dr. McMillan has worked on. We also chatted about some of the dangers of using psychedelics after a spinal cord injury including spasms and the potential to overheat your body's core temperature. Episode 173 Dr. Mark Blumberg

This week on the Live to Walk Again Podcast we had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Mark Blumberg who is the Chair of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa. We talked to Dr. Blumberg about his study into twitching while in REM sleep and how Western medicine thought about this twitching before Dr. Blumberg cracked the code. It turns out this twitching is actually a message traveling from the body to the brain to help map out our brains knowledge of our bodies. We chatted with Dr. Blumberg about how this could impact spinal cord injuries and possibly work with Artificial Intelligence to help plot new neural pathways between the body and brain to restore function and movement after SCI or strokes.
