Dr. Kobi Koffler joins us for an interview about 3-D printed scaffolding and neural stem cells that his team at the University of California San Diego are using to fix spinal cord injuries in rats with great success. Dr. Koffler gives us a great description of the way that 3-D printing is opening up new pathways for SCI research. This week we discuss two exciting new studies, one out of UCSD working on a less invasive way of injecting stem cells after spinal cord injury and another study out of Edmonton Alberta Canada that is working on a new form of epidural stimulation that would be inserted into the spinal cord as opposed to on the surface.
